CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The family of âJungleâ Jack Hanna announced on Wednesday he has been diagnosed with dementia, now believed to be Alzheimerâs disease.
âHis condition has progressed much faster in the last few months than any of us could have anticipated. Sadly, Dad is no longer able to participate in public life as he used to, where people all over the world watched, learned and laughed alongside him,â the family said in a letter.

Hanna, the 74-year-old internationally-known director emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, has spent more than four decades in the public eye putting Columbus, Ohio, and its zoo s conservation efforts on the national stage. He officially retired from his role as the zoo s spokesperson in December 2020.
