FALL RIVER An 18-year-old New Bedford man, accused of shooting another man near Roberto Clemente Park in June was found dangerous by a Fall River Superior Court Judge last week, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced in a news release.
Jose Santos faces indictments charging him with aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery by means of a firearm, and carrying an illegal firearm.
According to the release, at approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 17, New Bedford Police responded to a Shotspotter notification at Rivet and South First streets in the south end of of the city. When officers arrived, they saw blood on the street and also found a 9mm shell casing in the area. One of the officers was flagged down by people in a car. The civilians told police that they saw the victim lying on the street, and put him in the car to take him to the hospital.
