The End Of The Horne Of Plenty; Dan Horne Is Retiring This Summer | Fox Rothschild LLP

To embed, copy and paste the code into your website or blog: Sad news for North Carolina appellate aficionados. Dan Horne, the Clerk of the North Carolina Court of Appeals, is retiring as of June 30, 2021. As he rides into the sunset, Dan takes with him an impressive amount of experience working in that Court. He began his tenure in 1990 as a law clerk for Judge (later Chief Judge) Gerald Arnold. Two years later, Dan joined the Court of Appeals Office of Staff Counsel as a staff attorney. From 1999 to 2008, he was Assistant Director of Staff Counsel, then in 2008 began service as Administrative Counsel to the Court of Appeals. In November of 2015, he reached the pinnacle when he was appointed Clerk of the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

North Carolina Court Of Appeals Has A New Chief Judge | Fox Rothschild LLP

To embed, copy and paste the code into your website or blog: The new year will bring many changes to our state appellate courts.  Another big change was announced yesterday.  With Court of Appeals Chief Judge Linda McGee retiring after over 25 years of service, Chief Justice Cheri Beasley has appointed Judge Donna Stroud as the new chief of our intermediate appellate court, effective January 1, 2021. Judge Stroud has served on the Court of Appeals since 2007 a tenure of 14 years.  She has long been actively engaged with the lawyers in the North Carolina appellate bar.  She also chairs the Chief Justice’s Rules Advisory Commission, which recommends amendments to the Rules of Civil Procedure and the General Rules of Practice.   Judge Stroud will be our first Chief Judge to have graduated law school from Campbell University (Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law) first in her class, I should add.  Judge Stroud also picked up an LLM from Duke along the way.
