March 3, 2021 Michael S. Frawley was sentenced to 150 months in prison for conspiring to distribute at least 500 grams of cocaine and K2 controlled substances (Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids) while on federal supervised release in 2018, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. PITTSBURGH Richard Bracey was sentenced to 18 months in prison for conspiring to launder drug-trafficking proceeds between 2017 and 2019, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today.
Bracey, age 44, was sentenced by United States District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan. Judge Ranjan directed that the prison sentence be served consecutively to the federal prison sentence Bracey was serving for first-degree murder at the time of the crime. Judge Ranjan also directed that Bracey serve one year of supervised release following his prison sentence.
Bracey was incarcerated at USP-Lee in Virginia when he conspired to launder the proceeds of the distribution of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoid controlled substances. Such substances have caused severe illness and deaths throughout the United States in recent years.

Jim Brewster of Allegheny County won reelection in the 45th Senate District by 69 votes, but his Republican opponent challenged the results.U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan rejected the argument by Nicole Ziccarelli that Allegheny County was not justified in counting 311 mail-in ballots without a handwritten date. The county’s decision had been upheld by the state Supreme Court.Tuesday s ruling came a week after a fight broke out on the floor of the Senate when Republican leaders refused to seat Brewster.Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman said Brewster will be sworn in Wednesday morning.Corman released the following statement:“In his decision today, Judge Ranjan further clarified the proper handling of undated ballots and we will seat Jim Brewster as the Senator for the 45th Pennsylvania Senate District at 11a
