Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted bail before arrest to senior lawyer Abdul Latif Afridi, who was nominated along with his son and others in the case by the family of the deceased. ATC Swat Judge Aftab Afridi, his wife, daughter-in-law and a minor grandson were martyred in the attack on his car on the Motorway near Swabi. The guard of the judge and driver had sustained injuries in the attack.

PHOTO: EXPRESS/FILE SWABI: Making significant progress in the murder case of Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Aftab Afridi and his family members, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police arrested two more accused and also recovered the vehicle used in the heinous crime, officials said on Wednesday. The Swat ATC judge, his wife Bibi Zainab, daughter-in-law Kiran and three-year-old grandson Muhammad Sanan were gunned down Sunday evening on the Peshawar Motorway near Ambar Interchange, Swabi. His driver and guard sustained serious injuries. Talking to The Express Tribune, an official of the Swabi police said Justice Afridi was on his way to Islamabad when his vehicle came under attack. “The judge, his wife and two children were killed on the spot while his driver and guard suffered serious injuries.”

SCBA president nominated in killing of ATC judge, family members

Daily Times April 6, 2021 While lodging criminal case over brutal murder of Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Aftab Afridi and his four family members, including minor child and two women, with Swabi police, son of the deceased judge has nominated incumbent president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Abdul Latif Afridi and his son, among others, in the first information report (FIR). Judge Aftab Afridi, his wife, reportedly pregnant daughter-in-law and young grandson were shot dead by unknown individuals on Sunday. The incident took place between 6pm and 7pm on the motorway in Swabi district. Condemning the incident, president SCBA Abdul Latif Afridi denied his involvement in the matter saying attacking women and children is utterly against the Pashtun culture and traditions. However, he assured his full cooperation in the matter to all relevant agencies saying he or his son has nothing to do with the incident.
