to the edge of space and they want you to send it a text.. a simple greeting or a message of hope. then watch those messages and your face flash on the screen while the cell phone floats high above the earth. this video is from a test flight. space balloon will be launched over northern nevada by a small aerospace company from the sacramento area. we re told that it could be millions of people watching. if you count everybody on the internet. reporter: the volunteer engineers at jp aerospace had to figure out how to receive all of those messages on a remote lake bed in nevada. beam the messages up to a smartphone at the edge of space. and broadcast the video live over the internet. everything has to work just right. reporter: two years ago, jp aerospace floated a chair at the edge of space for a tv commercial. the video became an internet sensation. edge of space has become our playground.
