Man s foolish decision after downing a bottle of vodka

Premium Content Subscriber only A GLADSTONE man made a “foolish” decision which has had a significant impact after downing 700ml of vodka. On November 29, Jack David Salter was stopped riding a peewee motorcycle on Sun Valley Rd in Kin Kora. Salter had another person between him and the handles, neither were wearing a helmet and the bike was not registered or insured. Being a children’s bike, the vehicle didn’t have the proper lights fitted for the road at night. Salter returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.158. He told police he had drunk a 700ml bottle of vodka before he was intercepted.

Not so merry Christmas drinks

Premium Content Subscriber only IT was a not so merry evening when Christmas drinks landed Shaun Gary Cooper in court. Cooper was pulled over driving on November 22 on Hampton Drive after he had consumed one beer and five rum drinks. He returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.114. The 46-year-old pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday to drink-driving. Defence lawyer Joshua Gibson told the court Cooper had been drinking after he and some colleagues organised some Christmas drinks. Mr Gibson said his client had offered to take another workmate home who was too intoxicated to drive. He said his client, a supervisor and horse breeder, was surprised by his reading and would be more careful in the future.
