operation and special interest who support tens of millions into the state with nothing to show for it. the fact is he is saying what is left unwritten in that memo, if the recall succeeds, republicans are going to write wisconsin off in the fall. anyway, who better to talk about the state of wisconsin politics than a native of osh kosh. the executive editor and fellow cheese head i m a cheese head by adoption, but not a native of wisconsin. jim, i can t it s like i don t know even if i really did it justice with that preview. this is the battle of what the two parties stand for that is taking place in wisconsin. is that a fairway of saying it? it s a toss up for the presidential election and control of the senate which you didn t get into in the intro. this recall election that if
he is going to try to get the areas he is good in and bolster up the future economically in those areas. hi is somewhat of a politician. he is feeding the troops. but doesn t he bridge that by focusing on manufacturing as the outcome of an investment in green tech? well, of course, that would be the midwest. yeah. of course that is what i call scranton to osh kosh in the challenge he faces. the democrats were swept out of office from scranton to wisconsin. with the exception of illinois where they had the east coast/west coast reality. they are in trouble with the guys who go to football games, regular white guys in that part of the country. scranton to erie, allentown, places like that. they have a real struggle on their hands to get re-elected. i believe this president with his current popularity could lose a general election today because he would lose a lot of
feingold, he s been spending time in democrat friendly dertory for the last couple of days, he s been in the northern portion of the state and southern portion of the state. they are areas that have been friendly towards democratic candidates and particularly the senator so he s pushing the get out and vote amongst his supportners that particular area. it s going to be key because it looks like the undecideds have about evaporated. what is johnson doing? he s a successful businessman in osh kosh, wisconsin i believe? yes, exactly right, and this is a guy who was political unknown seven months ago and has burst on the scene and he s within a hair s breath of being the next u.s. senator from wisconsin. he spent a lot of time in the fox river area, basically the northeastern portion of the state of wisconsin, that s an area that s traditionally been a battle ground for state-wide contest and he is doing particularly well up in that area and that s a good sign for him. also another goo
what i m running on. bill: on that stimulus plan, what he s hitting back at you is this: he says you had a company that took a loan from the government to the tune of $4 million. and esaccusing you of a double standard. does he have a point on that? it was not a loan from the bottom, it was industrial revenue bonds. he s knowingly dishonest or ignorant about what industrial revenue bond financing is. it s a loan from a bank to our business, there s no taxpayer money involved, there s no taxpayer guarantee involved at aufplt so it s simply a loan from a bank, utilizing the bonding authority of the city of osh kosh, things that hundreds of companies, thousands of companies, take advantage of, investor revenue bond financing. no, it s not from the government at all. bill: you made enough money to fuel your campaign. the republican party is meeting in virginia right now, trying to chart a future for what they say is a winning formula come november.
