Bachelorette' contestant Josh Seiter, has passed away at the age of 36. Here's my personal processing of his passing. As Managing Editor of Instinct, I'
see more open critiques from his own party than we have probably the previous two years. chaotic christmas ahead. jay martin, josh, thank you for joining us. thank you. they lost their home but not their hope on this holiday. we check in with a mother and son who survived a deadly california wildfire next. (burke) parking splat. and we covered it. talk to farmers. we know a thing or two because we ve seen a thing or two. we are farmers. bum-pa-dum, bum-bum-bum-bum
his comments. they re totally targeted at the president and not democrats. this is a very different kind of shutdown here. are you suggesting that we elevate mcconnell to do a school house rock and that s the christmas gift? i would love to see it. he s already halfway there, john. i m just checking on that. josh joshua, here is my question. normally a christmas shutdown would be bad political news. self inflicted. republicans have unified control. it comes the same time that republicans have begun to speak up and speak out against the resignation of james mattis. my question to you is do you see us beginning to see fissures in the republican coalition that aren t just quiet expressions of discomfort but real concerns by republicans in congress with this president? yeah, i do. a couple of things are happening here. what you re beginning to hear publicly are the same complaints a lot of rrps are hearing privately going all the way back
congress. i can t recall a time where in the first two years of this presidency where you had so many republican lawmakers who were expressing their concerns openly and on the record to josh s point, you heard this privately for a couple of years now. lots of eye rolling, snickering, lots of sort of wtf. we ve not sort of seen this on the record like we did last friday. not just from bob corker who, of course, relishes now poking president trump and trump swipes back. they ve had this on again, off again feud. but from rank and file senators like bill cassidy from louisiana. pat roberts from kansas, who are not typically often critics of this president who do not like what they have seen. josh is right, the mattis resignation over the abrupt syria resignation. the question is, what does that add up to besides rhetorical condemnations? it s not clear to me yet but we are at a point now where you do
politics into this, this is msnbc, i wonder what would be happening if we had a republican president overseeing all these shootings. because obama at least has this position that he wants to do something, enact some laws. people can argue whether that s the right recourse or not. a lot of families tend to want to see gun safety measures endorsed. not the all, but some afterwards. so he s been trying to fight for this, as well. so it s not just consolation. he has prescription to kind of move forward. and most republicans are not in that position. well, try to move forward. i have a question for josh. is there a time frame that sort of having been through newtown and now, san bernardino, that is appropriate? the president has gotten i think unfair criticism that this is sort of a fly by, he s on his way to hi. this obviously means a lot to the families. is there a time frame that you wait a week, two weeks?
