Joseph Mathews, 55, faces four counts, all felonies, of dealing cocaine.
According to court documents, South Bend police officers conducted a search warrant for a house in the 1300 block of North Elmer Street on Tuesday.
In searching the house, officers found Mathews with blood on his hand coming from a fresh cut and the window in the room broken from the inside. Officers found a baggie containing around 10 grams of cocaine outside underneath the window, court documents said, in addition to several ârock like substancesâ containing cocaine in the room.
Mathews allegedly told police he would buy up to $300 worth of crack cocaine a day from his supplier to sell. Court documents say Mathews admitted to throwing the cocaine out the window when officers came into the home.
