Human remains were found in an area along Broad Top Mountain Road in Huntingdon County, just across the Bedford County line.
The Pennsylvania State Police Human Remains Detection K9 Jack and his handler, Tpr. Joseph Carlson, responded to the area of Broad Top Mountain Road at its intersection with McCandles Street in Coalmont Borough about 11 a.m. Tuesday to conduct a search related to a missing person.
Police said K9 Jack located skeletal remains and the scene was secured.
On Wednesday, the Mercyhurst University Forensic Anthropology Team and members of the Pennsylvania State Police Huntingdon Crime Unit responded to the scene, where the remains were collected and transported back to the university in Erie for processing.
