Gainesville motorcyclist dies in Jonesville crash
A Gainesville man died of injuries he sustained after a sports utility vehicle struck his motorcycle at an intersection in Jonesville Tuesday evening.
A 64-year-old Williston woman driving a 2016 Kia Sorrento had been traveling west on Newberry Road near the Publix at Steeplechase shopping center shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to a news release from Florida Highway Patrol.
When the woman approached the intersection of Northwest 143rd Street, she turned left and struck a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle that was traveling east on Newberry Road, the release said. The motorcycle driver, a 20-year-old man, died on the scene. He had been wearing a helmet.
