York College has seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases and may consider mandating vaccinations. This week, there were 20 cases. That is more than double the number of last week’s cases. We suspect that we had increased travel last weekend. We had students that were out in their communities at home, spokeswoman Mary Dolheimer said.Despite the increase, the college has decided against reinstating restrictions on where students can go in their dorms and on campus. But no decision has been made yet about whether students will be required to be vaccinated. Two students News 8 spoke with on Friday afternoon were in favor. To keep everybody safe, I think it’s necessary to put in mandatory vaccinations, especially coming into school next August, senior Jonathan Mack said. I think it would help to keep everyone safe and stop the spread of COVID-19, and they would be able to ease up on a lot of those restrictions because more people would be vaccinated, sophomore Kaitlyn Weber said.
