Tallahassee, Fla. – Offensive efficiency led No. 11 Florida State (3-0) to a 10-4 win over James Madison (0-3) for the series sweep Sunday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium. Reese Albert, a fifth-year senior from Jupiter, Florida, went 3-for-3 on Sunday to improve to .778. FSU’s leadoff hitter is 7-for-7 with an HBP in his last eight plate appearances. 2022 Baseball Media Center Logan Lacey broke the game open with a three-run home run in the fourth inning, pushing FSU’s lead to 8-1. Tallahassee, Fla. – No. 11 Florida State (1-0) began the season with a 4-1 win over James Madison (0-1) on Friday night in the first-ever meeting between the schools. Parker Messick won his ninth consecutive decision, striking out 11 in 5.2 innings.

Messick, from Plant City, Florida, allowed two hits, one run, and struck out 11, one shy of his career high. Messick’s 11 strikeouts are the third-most in program history on Opening Day and the most since Bryan Henry also had 11 in 2007. The sophomore left-hander struck out the side in the first, third and fifth innings, including four looking. As a team, FSU struck out 18 Dukes.
