Raleigh, N.C. Hospitals across North Carolina are nearing capacity due to an increase in coronavirus patients.
The state has topped 3,000 people hospitalized with the virus twice this week, including Wednesday s record of 3,043. Also, a record 696 of those patients were in intensive care on Wednesday.
Seventy-six percent of North Carolina s hospital beds are full, as are 83 percent of ICU beds. The state has averaged a record 2,881 COVID-19 patients per day over the last week.
North Carolina also has averaged a record 6,091 new infections per day over the last week, including 5,609 cases added Wednesday.

UNC Health Goes Live With NCCARE360

UNC Health is pleased to announce that we went live with the NCCARE360 network earlier this month.
NCCARE360 is a statewide coordinated care network that connects individuals to local services and resources with a shared technology. It is the first statewide electronic platform available to coordinate care for those with identified needs to community resources and allow feedback on the outcome of the connection. To date, more than 1,400 organizations in all 100 of North Carolina’s counties are participating in NCCARE360. vaccinations starting as soon as Tuesday. Combined, UNC Health locations will receive more than 14,000 doses of the vaccine in the first week.
WakeMed Raleigh and Cary hospitals are expected to receive 3,900 doses between the two campuses.
Duke University Hospital is expecting 2,925 doses that will be stored in their ultra-cold freezers with vaccinations
starting Tuesday.
The
Durham VA Health Care System announced Friday that it is one of 37 VA sites to receive initial doses of the COVID-19 vaccine the VA is also North Carolina s only Veterans health care system to receive doses. However, the VA has not specified how many doses it will be receiving.
