23-year-old St. Cloud man dies in St. Paul crash

ST. PAUL A St. Cloud man died early Monday morning in a crash in St. Paul.
Anthony Lantrell Bryant, 23, of St. Cloud was found unconscious and not breathing just before 1 a.m. Monday morning, according to the St. Paul Police Department. A passer-by called to report a crash at the intersection of Johnson Parkway and Maryland Avenue and a man lying in the road. Several officers took life-saving measures, but medics pronounced Bryant dead.
A heavily damaged 2005 Mercury Mariner on the scene appeared to have rolled over.
A man living in the area said he saw the SUV roll, and others reported hearing gunshots just before the crash. A gun was found outside the vehicle, but the report of gunshots is still under investigation and whether the gun played any role in the crash is unclear, according to information provided by police about the incident.

Authorities on Tuesday identified the speeding driver who crashed his SUV just south of Lake Phalen in St. Paul and was killed early Monday.
Anthony L.L. Bryant, 23, of St. Cloud, died shortly before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Johnson Parkway and Maryland Avenue, police said.
Bryant was thrown from the wreckage, according to police.
Officers at the scene took turns doing chest compressions on Bryant until emergency responders arrived and pronounced him dead.

The crash was reported at the intersection of Johnson Parkway and Maryland Avenue by a passerby at 12:59 a.m., with the 911 caller reporting that a man was lying in the middle of the road.

The high-speed wreck occurred shortly before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Johnson Parkway and Maryland Avenue, police said.
