John Nyirongo, Mzimba Police deputy Public Relations Officer, confirmed of the development.
According to Nyirongo, the suspects, were found using uncertified scales and operating business without licenses at Manyamula and Engalaweni markets on 1st May.
Nyirongo said police have also seized 3 uncertified weighing scales during the operation.
He further warned illegal traders against buying farm produce below the minimum farmgate price.Â

Police in Mzimba are keeping in custody a 70 year- old granny, Chimtumbila Soko for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old granddaughter at Kabwafu in the district.
According to Mzimba Police Deputy Public Relations Officer (DPRO), John Nyirongo, the girl stays with her father close to Sokoâs house.
âIn December 2020, the girl went to the house of the grandfather to give him food and Soko later defiled her,â he said.
Nyirongo said that Soko has been having canal knowledge of the victim for four times.
He said the girl on March 16, 2021 revealed her ordeal to school child care committee members who called Soko in the presence of the Senior Village Headman for questioning upon which he pleaded guilty.

A 15-year-old boy has hanged himself with a mosquito net at Engalaweni in Mzimba district.

The body of the boy, Gadi Nyirenda, was found dangling in his room on Sunday
An examination at Mzimba district hospital revealed that the boy died of suffocation.

Mzimba police deputy spokesperson John Nyirongo confirmed of the development.
According to Nyirongo, the suspect is identified as Mangaliso Uteka.
Nyirongo said the victim, who is also epileptic, may have been defiled by the suspect on Sunday when she was home alone as her guardians had left to attend to their business at a close by trade center.
Uteka hails from Chakhaza village in the area of Inkosi Chindi in Mzimba district
