A New Day at the PMA - The Magazine Antiques

A New Day at the PMA Alexandra Alevizatos Kirtley Fig. 1. Covered caudle cup from a service for George Washington designed by Andreas Everardus van Braam Houckgeest (1739–1801), made in China for the American market, 1796. Porcelain with enamel, gilded, and underglaze blue decoration; height 5, width 5 1/8, depth 3 1/4 inches. This is one of more than 450 pieces of tableware owned by the nation’s First Families assembled by Robert L. McNeil Jr. A new interactive digital guide shows how the arrangement of the china on a table created a work of art unto itself, and speaks to the roles of those who maintained and worked with it, as well as of the presidents and first ladies who selected the patterns.

Ribbon cutting for new BRMC Outpatient Surgery Center set for Friday

The 23,000-square-foot facility is located at the front of the hospital in an area previously serving as a parking lot. While the outpatient surgery center had been in the planning stage for about two years prior to the groundbreaking, the medical community has discussed the need for a facility providing this service for about 20 years. Peterson said at the groundbreaking when he arrived at the medical center 12 years ago, he found a book on his desk with information about earlier planning for an outpatient surgery center. A group of physicians formed a limited liability company (LLC) in the surgery center endeavor. The group includes physicians include Eric Arp, Harley Barrow, Daniel Decker, Jason Lindsay, Merwin Moore, John Neis, Paul Neis, Corey Smith and Kevin Steffan.
