At The Ottawa Hospital’s General campus, just 13 per cent of breast cancer patients go from a decision to have surgery to the operating room within the province’s targeted time, according to Ontario Health. The numbers at TOH’s other campuses are higher 55 per cent of breast cancer patients at the Riverside go from a decision to surgery within the targeted time, and 21 per cent of patients at the Civic do. But they are all well below the provincial average of 71 per cent. Wait times for other cancer surgeries at TOH including prostate and thyroid are also longer than the provincial average, according to data on the Ontario Health website. Some waits are closer to provincial averages.
