John Haffner (left) and team When George Kristian Haffner set up his own butcher’s shop in Burnley in 1889, he probably never imagined it would still be going strong in 2021. But that has proved to be the case, thanks to several generations of hard graft - and a top-secret sausage seasoning recipe. Today, the Haffner’s Butchers and Pie Makers business comprises two butcher’s shops with locations on Burnley’s Keirby Walk and Market Hall. There is also a bakery on Marlborough Street, specialising in freshly-made pies, sausages and cooked meats. George’s great grandson John Haffner, 65, runs the show these days, having worked for the company for the last 40 years.
