Tuesday night marked the final City Council meeting for Mayor McKinley Price, Vice Mayor Saundra Cherry, and councilmembers Sharon Scott and David Jenkins. The four departing members used their last meeting to reflect on their time on the council and to thank those who worked with them along the way.
Wednesday marked the end of an era in Newport News, with Mayor McKinley Price delivering his final State of the City address before his term ends later this year.
During his final State of the City address Wednesday night, Newport News Mayor McKinley Price highlighted various accomplishments from the past 12 years. "Serving as the Mayor of Newport News is one of the greatest honors of my life," he said.
With 15 of 16 precincts reporting, Cleon Long, an engineer with Huntington Ingalls, appears to be the likely winner in a three-way race for the Central District Seat B.
