I went outside on Walpurgisnacht to make offerings and to hope that there might be something magical in the air. What I heard was harsh, but not uncaring. It was necessary.
I took shelter from the snow inside a Swiss church. It made for in interesting – and I think, enlightening – hour of meditation on the question of when enough is enough.
