Virginia Democrats rejected a bill that would have required teaching about the history of communism after a teachers union opposed it because it risked encouraging anti-Asian sentiment.
After years of trying, state Sens. Bill Stanley, R-Franklin County, and Jennifer McClellan, D-Richmond, have a school construction bill through the General Assembly.
