NL East MLB Betting Preview: Expect a bloodbath in 2021 Henry Monness
Rhona Wise-USA TODAY Sports
The National League East is going to be a bloodbath this year.
Less than 5 months removed from an NLCS game 7, the Atlanta Braves now find themselves merely as co-favorites to repeat as NL East champions.
The New York Mets are hot on their tails, as both ball clubs are +140 (FanDuel) to win the division, with the Nats and Phillies a ways away at +650 and +850, respectively.
Another fun tidbit about this division: Three of the top four favorites to finish the season as MLB’s home run leader resides in the NL East Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (+900), Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna (+900), and Nationals outfielder Juan Soto (+1050).
George Springer is now a Blue Jay because the Mets did not want to match the massive deal Toronto was offering.
Now that the Mets have lost out on Springer where can they turn to finish off their 2021 roster?
While centerfield and the bullpen are the main areas of concern there are a couple of areas they can round out as well including the rotation and third base.
Kiké Hernandez still remains a possibility for the team but the Red Sox are also interested in the former Dodger.
Around the National League East
The Braves could use some help in the outfield but their options are dwindling with Springer heading to Toronto.
