SPOKANE, Wash. The proposal to build an outdoor multi-use stadium near the Spokane Arena cleared another hurdle on Friday.
The board of the Spokane Public Facilities District voted 4-0 to approve a motion agreeing in principle to the parameters outlined last week by the Spokane Public Schools board.
Those parameters are essentially a set of requirements the stadium proposal would have to meet for the SPS board to consider approving it, and thereby scrapping the in-progress project to replace Joe Albi Stadium at its current site in Northwest Spokane.

our-headed hard-rock beasts had long roamed the earth by the time the late 70s rolled around. Led Zeppelin, the Who and Black Sabbath, among others, left gargantuan footprints in establishing the template: Take a magnetic lead singer, pair him with a wizard-like guitarist, and back them both with a heavy-bottomed rhythm section. But there was something different about Van Halen from the moment their 1978 self-titled debut arrived. Maybe it was their sunny SoCal roots, giving the band a breezy, party-friendly vibe while their predecessors plodded through dark themes, rock operas and tales inspired by
The Lord of the Rings. Maybe it was boisterous, fast-talking frontman David Lee Roth, the pop-tastic harmony vocals of bassist Michael Anthony or the thunderous drums of Alex Van Halen.

n the next couple of weeks, the Spokane Public School Board will be deciding on where to build the replacement for Joe Albi Stadium that voters funded when they approved a 2018 levy. In that levy there was also an advisory vote on whether the new facility should be downtown. Voters resoundingly said no, leave it where it is. In this case, the voters got it wrong. Before the we already voted on it crowd chimes in, I agree: We did vote on it. But we also had to vote twice on replacing the Boone Street Barn before it passed, and look what that has done for our city. We have also reconsidered many voters decisions to benefit our community, including decisions affecting Spokane Public Transit and other school bonds and levies.

SPOKANE, Wash. Community members weighed in on the placement of a new Spokane sports stadium during a public forum on Tuesday.
The project was first unveiled by the Downtown Spokane Partnership and the United Soccer League. Now, Spokane Schools must decide between building a new stadium at the old Joe Albi site, or downtown.
It’s a proposal that’s received mixed reaction from the public. Despite a 2018 vote against placing the stadium in downtown, many turned out in support of the plan during Tuesday’s forum.
Dave Black was one of those in favor of the stadium’s relocation. Black detailed his memories made at Joe Albi Stadium during his time playing for Ferris High School.
