Yarn bombers attack Workington park
Workington’s Vulcan Park has been transformed with a bright and colourful yarn bomb display.
Yarn bombing is a creative way to decorate outdoor spaces and involves attaching knitted displays to trees, benches, and railings.

The displays will be in place until Sunday to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.
Workington Town Council organised the activity and asked local residents to donate knitted squares and textile pieces that have been incorporated into the displays.
Larger displays were set up by Together We CIC, Workington and Derwent Inner Wheel, Workington Community Nurses and ICC, the Knitting Ninjas, Christ Central Church, Age UK, local artist Ursula Troche, and volunteers Jody Ferguson and Judith Ferguson.

Feb. 15 More people are using a Pierce County hotel set aside for those with COVID-19 than ever before, but homeless service providers have said those with mental or behavioral health illnesses have faced difficulty getting in the door.
Pierce County s Temporary Care Center opened in April last year at the Holiday Inn on South 84th and Hosmer streets in Tacoma. As of Jan. 26, 436 people had been admitted. January 2021 alone saw more than 158 people stay there.

Pierce County announces plan to create COVID-19 vaccination sites

Pierce County is planning to create three mass COVID-19 vaccination sites and several mobile locations in an effort to swiftly roll out the vaccine when doses become available, according to a news release.
The county s Department of Emergency Management plans to have the sites up and running by the end of January, or as soon as the vaccine is available, the release says.
