Bowl for Kids Sake raises $17,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Due to the pandemic protocols and restrictions in place, the chapter had lowered their annual goal to raise $10,000 and created a virtual bowling game people can choose alongside their in-person bowling “We’re very pleased to announce that we surpassed our goal this year and raised about the same amount of money we raised last year,” said Jodie Hergott, the chapter’s community development co-ordinator. “Humboldt believes in what we do, and they know the power of mentoring and the great things that come from it.” Typically, Muenster School has a daily field trip event with BBBS where they bowl, have lunch and fundraise.

“There’s an app that we have access to, and all the instructions are there,” Hergott said. “You can still participate from the comfort of your office chair or perhaps school or even from your couch at home and have fun and raise a little money for a good cause.” Hergott said the event is tailored for anyone to participate in, with some participants in previous years ranging from four or five to seniors in the community. To participate, people can collect pledge forms on their website at humboldt.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/bfks-2021/. Within the instructions for virtual participation, there is a link participants can follow on any device to access the online game.
