“Both teams struggled to score in the first half,” Dos Pueblos coach Joe Zamora said. “We were able to make some adjustments against their trapping zone in the second half.
“Cole Collins did a great job against their zone by making good passing decisions and finishing around the basket. Joaquin hit some open shots and did a great job on defense. I felt our defense was much better tonight and it allowed us to pull away in the second half. Kael, Trevor Lamberson, and Jonathan Barrera did a great job against their zone.”
The Chargers improve to 2-7 in league play and 2-9 overall. Lompoc is 0-9 both in league and overall.
Thomas Hatton scored 12 points for San Juan Hills.
“This morning was a tough contest for us,” Dos Pueblos coach Joe Zamora said. “They were bigger and longer than us across the board and they could shoot the ball. We had a sluggish start after the van ride, but the guys had a better second quarter.
“We did a good job against their press and zone, but we had a hard time matching up with their size. I was proud of all of the guys for competing and getting after it at this prestigious event. It was a great experience for all our players.”

A 13-2 third-quarter run propelled the Santa Barbara boys basketball team past Dos Pueblos on Saturday, as the Dons knocked off the Chargers for the second consecutive game 62-50.
Saturday’s win marked Santa Barbara’s third straight league victory. The Dons now sit at 3-1 in Channel League play. Dos Pueblos dropped to 1-3 in the league.

Cole Collins helped in the paint with his rebounding and tough defense against Lompoc s bigs.
Freshman call-up Christian Perez played steady and allowed DP to speed up the game at both ends, said Zamora.
Lompoc got big games from Dominic Ballesteros with 24 points and Elijah Perkins with 19.
