Geneva City Council is scheduled to meet tonight July 7 to hold public hearings regarding the rezoning of 1115 Lochland Road at the American Legion and regarding the creation of a planned unit development at the same location. Council is also scheduled to consider at least 10 resolutions, to discuss marijuana legalization, and to appoint members to the Police Body Camera Review Board and the Police Budget Advisory Board.
But it appears that attendance at this meeting may be limited to those who can attend in person. In October 2020 Council voted to eliminate funding for television coverage of Council meetings by Finger Lakes Television (FLTV). Joan Regan, the recreational coordinator for the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, wasn t sure what kind of response she would get when she invited people to send in Valentine s Day hearts to decorate the halls of the Motherhouse. Little did she know that she would receive more than 2,000 hearts to brighten the days of the sisters in quarantine. The hearts started coming in at the end of January, and just kept coming, said Joan. In fact, she is still getting them! The hearts were mailed from ten different states including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, South Caroline, Ohio, Virginia, Florida and California.People also sent in treats for the sisters, and even monetary donations.
