To the Editor:
The governor’s new nursing home visitation is a ruse to make him look good. For months the nursing home has been able to have visitors if they have not had an active case in 14 days. The visits were conducted in an open room, with visiting members being about 8 feet apart. There has been someone in the room at all times, so no private conversations can be held. Now that he has opened nursing home visitation I can still not visit privately with my mother, nor can I touch her.
The elderly in this state are being treated inhumanely at this time. I understand that we are in a pandemic in the United States, however; I do not believe that gives us the right to treat the elderly the way they have been treated for the last 11 ½ months.
