Shobowale Kehinde, JUSUN Lagos chairman, had, on April 22, said some of its workers in the state will be allowed to resume to enable the courts to clear backlogs of important cases.
Kehinde said the decision was based on the fact that the Lagos state government has shown interest in addressing JUSUN’s demands.
He, however, noted that work and official duties will be limited to Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of every week.

However, Jimoh Musa, JUSUN national treasurer, said the partial court reopening translates to going against the union in general.
“Last week, it happened like that. I had to travel to Lagos to make sure that the place was locked up. Surprisingly, today (Wednesday) we were called that the same thing was happening there again,” he said.

The national leadership of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has again faulted the partial reopening directive of its Lagos State chapter.
Following an extraordinary meeting of the union on Wednesday in Abuja over the matter, the leaders described the partial reopening directive as unacceptable and one that cannot stand.
JUSUN National Treasurer, Jimoh Musa, told reporters at the end of the meeting that they have resolved to send delegates to Lagos to verify if courts were partially open and if found true, they would be sealed up again.

The leaders of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), on Thursday, met with the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, over the union’s lingering strike that has crippled all Nigerian courts for 17 days.
Members of the union had embarked on the nationwide strike to press home their demand for the implementation of the constitutional provision that confers financial independence on the judiciary.
Thursday’s meeting was the second the CJN would be having with the union leaders after the first one he held with them on the day the strike began.
Lagos JUSUN backtracks on partial suspension of strike
The chairman of the Lagos branch of the union says the idea of a partial suspension of the strike was a mere proposal.

The chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Shobowale Kehinde, said on Thursday that the ongoing nationwide judiciary workers’ strike is still in force in the state.
Members of JUSUN have been on an indefinite nationwide strike since April 6 to press for financial freedom of the judiciary from the executive.
PREMIUM TIMES had reported how Mr Kehinde announced in a statement on Wednesday that members of the Lagos State chapter of the union would be working three days in the week in partial suspension of the strike.
