Selectmen address concerns related to Brewster Beach April 28, 2021WOLFEBORO Clark Road resident Patty Monaghan spoke with some urgency to the Board of Selectmen on April 14 about problems at Brewster Beach last summer. Her stated concern pertained to alleged drug and alcohol use, a lack of respect for fellow beachgoers, public urination, intolerably loud music, and accumulations of trash. The purpose of her visit to the Great Hall was to urge the board to form a committee, as recommended with passage of the amended Article # 35, without delay. Monaghan indicated that she was afraid Brewster Academy would once again decide to close the beach, which it leases to the town, in August (which she attributed to being a result of the aforementioned events), further exacerbating current restraints on town beach admission.

Outdoor dining making a return in Wolfeboro April 14, 2021WOLFEBORO Town Manager Jim Pineo, offering an update from the town s Covid Task Force to the Board of Selectmen on April 7, said it authorized outdoor dining for several businesses that asked to use town property again for dining or parking - Burnt Timber, Bailey s Bubble, El Centenario and the Lone Wolfe Tavern. It also reinstituted a number of five-minute takeout parking spots in the downtown area. Chairman Linda Murray suggested it was time to once again set up picnic tables in Cate Park. Many people frequented the park last summer and were able to take advantage of the outdoor seating, she noted.

That amount represents six months of wages and benefits for what is to be a full time position on or after July 1. The director is to oversee the Sdministrative, Highway & Streets, Garage, Solid Waste and Buildings and Grounds Divisions. Current Director of the Department of Public Works and the Water and Sewer Utilities Division David Ford, hired in 2006 to take on both departments, each under separate management at the time, would step down as Director of Public Works with the hiring of a new director. but remain as Director of Water and Utilities, which includes overseeing the Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Sewer Treatment and Wastewater Plant Divisions.
