With classes set to begin on Monday at Orange Coast, Golden West and Coastline Community colleges, district officials announced a plan to roll out a vaccine verification and testing protocol for students by Oct. 1.

Wendell Pierce (The Wire) will be back as his colleague and friend James Greer and season 2’s Mike November, played by Michael Kelly (House of Cards) is also returning.
Dr. Vince Rodriguez has been named the next president of Coastline College by the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees. Rodriguez will succeed the retiring president, Dr. Lorretta Adrian, on July 1, 2021.
“I am honored to follow President Adrian in this position of trust and responsibility in advancing the future of a welcoming college for all members of our communities,” Rodriguez said. “Coastline College embraces its dual mission of access and innovation, while we prepare for new and exciting approaches for serving students.”
Rodriguez served in the leadership of Coastline College for 23 years, beginning as the lead staff member in the distance learning department and working his way to the role of vice president for instruction. This put Rodriguez in a prime position to influence many of the policy decisions that will become his responsibility as president.
As construction of Orange Coast College’s Professional Mariner Training Center nears completion, the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees approved a new name for the College’s Newport Beach facilities at an April 7 meeting: the Orange Coast College Waterfront Campus.
Previously named the Intercollegiate Rowing and Sailing Base, the new name will reflect a recent expansion of the Newport Harbor facility, including a $22 million maritime training center connected to the harbor-side facility by a skyway bridge over Pacific Coast Highway.
“The renaming of OCC’s Waterfront Campus reinforces the College’s reputation as being a destination college that reflects the highest standards in higher education,” says College President Angelica Suarez. “We are thrilled to provide a top-notch facility for our maritime students who are seeking training and education in order to either transfer to a four-year program, or earn a certificate to further their career goals.”
