MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Doctor Jillian Foster, pharmacy administrator for Baptist Memorial Healthcare, joined WMC Action News 5 Wednesday to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine.
âThereâs a lot of excitement around this vaccine, and there should be,â said Foster.
She said the Pfizer vaccine showed greater than 90% efficacy in studies compared to those who did not receive the vaccine.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (WMC) - The COVID-19 vaccine continues to make its way across the Mid-South. On Tuesday, Baptist DeSoto in Southaven received its first doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
Baptist DeSoto receives COVID-19 vaccine
Just before lunchtime Baptist DeSoto received 975 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for healthcare workers. The vaccine distribution plan in Mississippi looks a lot like the one in Tennessee-healthcare workers most likely to be in contact with COVID-19 positive patients will receive the vaccine first.

DESOTO CO., Miss. (WMC) - Baptist-DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi plans to begin administering 975 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to healthcare workers Wednesday afternoon.

“Not sure if we would say a sense of relief, but it’s definitely exciting,” Jillian Foster, System Pharmacy Administrator for Baptist Memorial Healthcare. “Everyone is will to give an effort from pharmacy receiving the product and understanding the storage and preparation of that, the employee health team getting ready to administer that.”
