The Champai Soren government in Jharkhand will conduct a caste-based census along the lines of the one done in neighbouring Bihar. Senior officials said Champai has directed the state department of personnel, administrative reforms and Rajbhasha to prepare a draft standard operating procedure (SOP) for carrying out the caste survey in the state.
