A New Jersey appeals court has ruled that a Jewish conversion therapy practice must pay $3.5 million to former clients after it breached the terms of a settlement agreement that reduced the group’s financial liability. On Tuesday, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey upheld a lower court’s ruling finding that the Jewish Institute for Global Awareness (JIFGA), formerly known as Jews Offering New Alternatives to Healing, had violated the terms of a settlement agreement reached with plaintiffs in December 2015, six months after a New Jersey jury found the organization had violated New Jersey’s consumer fraud law.

UK 'Conversion Therapy' Ban May Criminalize Prayer – PJ Media

(AP Photo/Susan Montoya Bryan) Lawmakers in Britain and Australia have moved to ban “conversion therapy,” supporting laws that may criminalize everyday practices common to Christian churches around the world. While LGBT activists and most Christians have rightly condemned the historic abuses of “conversion therapy” in the past, modern sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE) involve patient-directed talk therapy, not “shock therapy,” and the laws in Britain and Australia may criminalize preaching, counseling, and even prayer.

Enough talk, now ban this wicked pseudo science

W hile we celebrate the upcoming festival of Pesach, and contemplate freedom, LGBTQ+ people in the UK still lack the legal safety they need against abusive conversion therapy. I went through this process when I was 17 because my Orthodox community and its leadership failed me. We now have a chance to ensure nobody else in this country experiences this abuse and trauma again. We are obligated to act.  According to Ban Conversion Therapy’s website [1], , it is defined as a “practice or intervention which attempts to erase, repress, cure or change someone’s sexual orientation – or lack of – and/or gender identity.”
