KZN Matrics soar over Covid hurdles

DURBAN - KWAZULU-NATAL private school pupils excelled under difficult Covid-19 lockdown conditions with several making it on to national top-achieversâ lists.
According to the Independent Examination Board (IEB) results, there was a 98.07% pass rate, which is slightly lower than the 98.82% of 2019.
The IEB said all candidates who passed achieved marks that were good enough to enter tertiary study at one of the three levels.

Sweaty Betty’s is struggling to keep the lights on.
Before the beloved longstanding Ossington bar becomes the latest to close its doors during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporters Jessica Thomson and Michelle Bodner have launched a GoFundMe to keep it alive.
“Now is the time that we need to come together as a community and… help save this amazing bar,” she writes on the fundraiser, titled “Help save Sweaty Betty’s from closing its doors.”
Six back-to-back Christmas shows were held across Friday and Saturday.
The website of the children s entertainment juggernaut promised a healthy and safe environment for fans including temperature screening on arrival and hand sanitiser stations. It also noted the venue would be deep cleaned between shows.
