Resident fans are sure to be wondering whether the Fox show has any life left, and whether Season 5 of the show has been ordered.
Will there be another season of
The Resident?
The Resident had even aired, the show had already been recommissioned by Fox.
The Resident Season 5 was officially confirmed by Fox on Monday, when the network announced its line-up for the upcoming 2021-2022 TV season. Next season, the show will be back in its current timeslot on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT. Though Fox has not announced when its season will begin next summer, it is likely to be in late September.
The Resident delivers on its most personal and intense episodes on February 9, with “Home Before Dark” reminiscent of
ER‘s “Be Still My Heart” and “All in the Family.”
“That’s great because I know
ER was a big inspiration for this show,” Emily VanCamp, whose pregnant nurse practitioner Nic Nevin is stabbed by a man the staff must turn away because the hospital is closed, tells TV Insider.

The Resident‘s case, it’s all hands on deck to save two (like on
ER, with Lucy Knight and John Carter both stabbed): Nic and her baby. And Conrad (Matt Czuchry) is both the husband at her side
Fans of Foxâs
The Resident are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Season 4, which isnât slated to hit the small screen until next year. In the meantime, fans are left to speculate on what lies ahead for the staff at Chastain Park Memorial. The show will likely answer a number of burning questions about the characters viewers have come to know but, for the upcoming season the show will also be bringing in a few new faces.
