Economics is dull? No way, says RBA

Economics is often viewed as abstract, difficult, dull, boring, not relevant to the real world, and lacking an ethical dimension, a new Reserve Bank of Australia research paper says.
But an RBA survey of Year 10 - Year 12 students found most of them saw the field as important to society and that it was not just about money. That didn’t translate into them wanting to study it, however.

The number and diversity of Australians studying economics at high school has plummeted in recent decades, with fewer females and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds taking the course.
