“There’s been this mentality we’re only ever going to be so good when we’ve got so much untaxable land being used,” says one candidate for City Council. “Frankly, that’s been a poor excuse for a long time not to grow.”
Half of the council seats are in play, and the ballot will feature a mix of candidates seeking first-time election as well as familiar faces, including a former councilman hoping to reclaim his old seat.
Candidate filing opens this week, and a number of people have already announced their intentions to run for the council, while a familiar face won’t be returning.
