EASTHAMPTON The landowners who have proposed building five houses on their property at the base of Mount Tom are at least temporarily withdrawing their request due to uncertainty whether the land is on a public way.
The proposed development, located at the end of Reservation Road, stirred controversy last month due to its location along the lower portion of Mount Tom.

Facing down opposition, Sandisfield selectboard approves large-scale cannabis grow facility
The selectboard approved the project with amended restrictions proposed by board member George Riley. Construction could begin within 12–18 months.

The vote by the three-member board was unanimous and came attached with some conditions proposed by board member George Riley after discussions with town counsel Jonathan M. Silverstein. Most of those conditions were already in the application and in the host community agreement Sama signed with the town last year. The board revised Riley’s conditions slightly before incorporating them into the motion to approve the permit. Click here to read the revised conditions Riley provided to The Edge.
SANDISFIELD â A cannabis grower seeking to operate a greenhouse and manufacturing business has given town officials additional information they had requested to inform their vote Monday on whether to grant a special permit for the project.
The company, Sama Productions LLC, provided details on the potential for noise, pollution, and proof that the company can operate its proposed business on property it owns near the state forest.
The deed attached to the company s three lots totaling 60 acres, however, has a restriction placed on it by the property s seller that Jesse Belcher-Timme, an attorney for a group of residents, says should, in part, disqualify the company from receiving the permit. That restriction says only single-family homes can be built there.
