Accused Capitol rioter allowed to travel for Mexico 'retreat'

Cudd, a Midland-based florist, was released on a personal recognizance bond in connection with the misdemeanor charges. This is a work-related bonding retreat for employees and their spouses, the court papers continue. Prosecutors took no position on Cudd’s request. The travel request appeared to include a pre-written document for the judge to sign if he or she decides to approve the request. The motion has not yet been granted.  Jenny Cudd, front, a flower shop owner and former Midland mayoral candidate, and Eliel Rosa leave the federal courthouse in Midland, Texas, Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021. (Tim Fischer/Reporter-Telegram via AP) Cudd, a former mayoral candidate, was arrested just days after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot after she shared a video boasting that she was part of a group that barged into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi s office, breaking a door to do so, according to previous reports.

Capitol riot suspect asks to leave USA on vacation

Corrections and clarifications: A federal magistrate has not granted permission for Jenny Cudd to leave the country, as indicated in a previous version of this story. A woman accused of participating in the riot Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol asked a federal judge for permission to leave the country on vacation this month. In a court filing Monday, lawyers for Jenny Louise Cudd requested the court s blessing to travel to Mexico s Riviera Maya from Feb. 18-21 for a prepaid work-related bonding retreat with her employees and their spouses. Cudd, a small-business owner in Midland, Texas, is on pretrial release after being charged with two misdemeanor offenses, including entering a federal building without permission and engaging in disorderly conduct.
