William Harold Beck, 78, owner of Beck's Garage and well-known mechanic, passed away at 1:32 am on Friday, March 10, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. Harold was born on June 24, 1944, at his childhood home in Geff, IL, to Marion and Martha (Fry) Beck. Harold was recognized as being one of the best and most respected auto mechanics throughout the region for many years. He was a top-notch mechanic, always willing to lend a helping hand not only to his customers but also to fellow mechanics and the racing community. Racing rivals welcomed his suggestions and input…after all… he knew more about chassis and engines than most people would ever think of knowing. He spent countless hours fabricating, designing, and tinkering with his race car, trying to find that extra horsepower or shave that extra tenth of a second. He was a true perfectionist.
