november 7th, 2020, i got to say this it is my honor to announce to you that nbc news is projecting joe biden as the winner of the presidential election. dancing in the streets broke out after that. literally dancing in the streets. they could have gotten that dancing started on wednesday if they had been paying attention to jen o malley dillon. and so, to address the anxiety that i know millions of you are feeling tonight about the upcoming election, it is my honor to introduce you to the wizard of 2020 who manage and inched joe biden s winning presidential campaign from her attic after the coronavirus closed down the campaign headquarters, and while she was managing the campaign, she was home somehow keeping an eye on her then twin eight year old daughters and three wilson. joining us now is white house deputy chief of staff, jen o malley dillon. and i wish we had an applause
presidential candidate in history. and we are still counting. over 135 million votes have been counted so far. and the vice president has received 69 million votes so far. he has won over 50% of the popular vote. we are on track to win in michigan by more than donald trump did in 2016, to win in wisconsin by more than trump did in 2016, to win in pennsylvania by more than trump did in 2016. and we flipped one of his states, arizona, and congressional district, nebraska number two, last night, to add on top of that. after, that i told my word friends it was all over. joe biden won. none of them believed it because they had never heard of jen o malley dillon because she prefers to do her work quietly, backstage. on our coverage on this program each night that week we stressed, as strongly as possible, every update delivered by jen o malley
dillon. here is what she had on to say on thursday, november 5th. good morning, everyone. it s good to be with you today. this is mandy steele, vice president and jen o malley dillon i m joined with bob bauer. senior adviser to the campaign. hopefully, folks had a chance to get a little more sleep last night. i certainly did since the last time i spoke to all of you. and our goal for today is to give you an update on how we think things are going in the race, and where we are headed. so let me be very clear. our data shows that joe biden will be the next president of the united states. and that the counting is happening now in the states. and they are moving to us as we see the counting throughout this morning, yesterday and into today that that counting is going to continue to show our path to victory. and so it was with no surprise at all, to me, that two days later on saturday,
people coming in strong for us, republicans coming to our events like crazy we are going to do this. we just need a few extra bucks. tim ryan, i don t know who is going to win this race, but you are running the race i expected you to run from the start. thank you very much for joining us tonight. we really appreciate it. thanks, lawrence. we are having fun and we are going to win this thing. you heard it here on lawrence o donnell. we are going to shock the world. all right, we are saving that videotape right there. thank you. coming up, in the last election, no one was more clear and correct about the outcome then jen o malley dillon, joe biden s campaign manager. she is now deputy white house chief of staff and jen o malley dillon will join us next. trelegy for copd. birds flyin high you know how i feel (coughing) breeze driftin on by you know how i feel copd may have gotten you here, but you decide what s next. start a new day with trelegy.
