Jeff Snyder LOCK HAVEN Clinton County Commissioner Jeffrey Snyder got a surprise at Thursday’s county commissioners meeting. The commissioners had secretly invited Lisa Schaefer, executive director of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP), to the Zoom meeting to offer some pretty special congratulations to the three-term commissioner. It seems Gov. Tom Wolf and Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin announced that Snyder is a recipient of the 2021 Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence. Snyder, who served as president of CCAP last year, was nominated by CCAP for the honor which is bestowed on communities, organizations and individuals for their dedication and commitment to strengthen their communities and better serve their residents.

The highlight of the meeting was the appearance of Van Wert County s latest spelling bee champion, Lincolnview eighth-grader Lindsey Hatcher. She told the Board, It was a great experience for me. Hatcher is now required to take a test to see if she will qualify for regional competition.

Clifton “Sonny” Snyder Clifton B. Snyder, age 86 of Center Street, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, surrounded by family at the Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo. Born Feb. 21, 1934, the son of Clifton B. And Leona ( Lay) Snyder. A U. S. Army Veteran Cliff honorably served during the Korean War with the 101st Airborne . Cliff married the former Mary Ann Schiffner April 4 ,1957, Ann passed away in July 25, 2016. A Supervisor for the NYS DOT, Cliff retired after more than 30 years of service . After his retirement Cliff drive for the former Carrier Coach of Gowanda and for the Seneca Nation of Hope Medical team. Cliff was a Supervisor with the Gowanda Ambulance service, he also was a member of the Zoar Valley Rescue Squad through the Gowanda Vol. Fire dept. where he also was an exempt member of the department. Cliff was a long standing member of the Gowanda Shrine # 1 and was an active rider for the Mini Corps for many years and a member of the Seneca Nation American Le
