The Loesch family was for many decades associated with the Corinth School near the Zion community south of Jefferson City. In the fall of 1946, when Candace (Loesch) Stockton was looking forward to beginning her elementary education at the same one-room schoolhouse her father had attended years earlier, she discovered that consolidation of school districts would require her to go to classes at Harmony Grove School in southwest Jefferson City.
The holy refrains of "Silent Night" have long been incorporated into Christmas celebrations worldwide. Written by Father Joseph Mohr, a Catholic priest and Austrian native, the song is still sung in its original German by some local churches on Christmas Eve.
