presidential campaign. the primary campaign is going on and several candidates are seeking the nomination of one of the parties and they re coming up on one of the nominating the primers the state primary and you ll typically you ll hear some politicians say oh if i finish in the top three, that will be a win that if i to finish in the top three, i ll be very happy or something like that. and of course, he s trying to manage expectations. because if he does that successfully and if people and the press and so forth buy it, yeah top three finishes a win for him and he finishes number two, you know. oh wow, that s great. you know he exceeded expectations. but on the other hand if he doesn t bother to manage expectations or if he s not successful at it doesn t get people to buy it then you know, he finished his second. oh, wow. what a loser. what a defeat for him. he finished second the thing with this campaign right here. what s called the overlyan campaign grands campaign up t

What hes talking about when it comes to the war. And he said to me, this woman is gangbusters. She is on fire. And if you think about all the students that gary has mentored over the years, for him to give a particular endorsement like that to one of them, really spoke volumes. And i saw that myself in the work that i read from cecily when she first started doing guest posts for us. Like this woman, she can write. Shes got smart things to say. Shes insightful. This is fantastic. And its really been wonderful role as the editor in chief to watch her journey with emerging civil war as kind of this young, upcoming, brilliant, bright star. And to see her star rise as it has. And so this past year, she was named emerging civil wars news chief historian. And so its really kind of exciting for me to be able to bring her out deep from the heart of texas, to bring her. I told her its going to be like, youre southern w a taunt unveiling. Thought that would be an interesting topic. So i broaden that a bit to think about different kinds of that civil war. Americans shared, transmitted and almost as soon as i came up with that idea, i started to think about a terrific book with an incredibly intriguing title, mr. Lincolns tales. And so early on in process, i thought to myself, if i could get the author of this book to come and speak maybe this thing will work out extremely. And so i was absolutely thrilled. When tom wheeler, the author of, mr. Lincolns t mails, accepted the invitation to be with us as, a speaker at this years civil war weekend, wheeler is businessman, an author and a public figure. Im not even going to try and read out the list of his accomplishments. A few highlights include his service as chairman of. The federal Communications Commission from 2013 to 2017. Hes a visiting fellow at brookings institution. As well, as a senior fellow at the harvard school. His publication does include a really insightful
