Amelia Davies, from Darlington, died in January, about four months after being diagnosed with neuroblastoma. The eight-year-old, who loved swimming and mixed martial arts, was a pupil at Polam Hall School, which is planning to create a garden, with buddy bench , to remember Amelia. Her mum Rhiannon Davies, who wants to raise awareness about the cancer and its symptoms, described her as a cheeky girl with a big personality. After calling the GP, Amelia was booked in for an ultrasound at Darlington Memorial Hospital where they were called back the following day for more testing.
Rhiannon continued: We were told we needed to come back for further investigation, they couldn t tell me much over the phone. They said they had found something attached to her left kidney so we didn t know the full extent of it.
