WILLIAMSBURG Henry Carter Lindsey, 89, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Jean Lindsey.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Postman (Eric); and grandsons, Zachary Postman (Natalie) and Nathan Postman (Kelsey). He is also survived by his wife of two years, Tracey Eileen Lindsey, who was a friend and companion in his final years.
Henry grew up in Farmville. He went from raising bees on his porch to studying science at “Mr. Jefferson’s University.” He was a medic in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. They moved to Williamsburg, where he taught high school biology for 40 years.

Jan. 30, 1941: Betty Jones was elected president of the junior high girls’ Hi-Y when 40 members met with Rebecca Moyers, sponsor. Other officers are Lou Watson, Jean Lindsey, Norma Eiring, Jennie Gares, Betty Joe Smith, Patsy Nell James and Mary Jane Stucker. Jan. 30, 1961: Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars who formed a Bucket Brigade for March of Dimes Collection were Levi Dickerson, E.P. O’Neal, Wilfred Spoener, Clarence Rogers, Tito Trevino, Fred Shipman and Jeff Hutcheson.
Jan. 30, 1981: The completion in another week of a customer parking area adjacent to J.C. Penney, 425 Broadway, will furnish an additional 60 parking spaces in the downtown area.
