Almost a year since Clayton County students in classrooms
The Clayton County School Board plans to discuss reopening despite the pandemic.
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said it is safe for students to go back to the classroom. While most schools in metro Atlanta have given families the option of staying virtual or face-to-face, Clayton County has yet to open its doors. Students haven t been back in the classroom since March.
The superintendent and board members are expected to discuss the guidelines at their Monday night meeting. Board member Jasmine Bowles said she doesn t see schools opening anytime soon. She said it s just not safe to do that yet.

Cries to help educators during pandemic
Educators across the state are asking Georgia Governor Brian Kemp for greater help during the on-going coronavirus pandemic.
ATLANTA - More than a dozen school board members across metro Atlanta sent a letter to Gov. Brian Kemp asking him to take a number of steps to make Georgia schools safer for teachers and staff. The board members said they united to send the letter because teachers across the state are struggling. If we re going to ask our educators to be superheroes, we have to stop snatching their cape, said Cobb County School Board member Dr. Jaha Howard.
